From the Principal & OLHMS Weekly

Welcome OLHMS Mustangs!

Dear OLHMS Families,

As your child progresses through middle school they will experience a multitude of new social and academic experiences.  Our goal is to partner with you through this next stage of your child’s development to ensure that they leave OLHMS with the skills necessary to position them for academic and personal success in high school and beyond.  At OLHMS we believe in the importance of family engagement, a curriculum focused on 21st Century Learning, and a team of educators committed to meeting the social emotional needs of adolescents.

Several steps have been taken to promote these collective goals, including the implementation of a morning Advisory construct that reinforces purposeful decision making and mindfulness.  We are continuing our building focus on service and will be promoting ongoing opportunities for our kids to connect with their school and community in a volunteer capacity.

Parents are our greatest resource in providing for a personalized educational plan for each child in our care.  Please consider partnering with us through the structures we have in place, including our Student-Led Conferences, Parent Walk and Talks, Open House, Parent Power Hour, and Parent University sessions.  We know that our kids benefit from our collective commitment to their growth, and we thank each of you for being a meaningful part of the process.

We look forward to a productive school year that is filled with dynamic learning opportunities for all of our students.  We strive for learning events that promote an opportunity for kids to engage in a productive struggle, one that requires them to reach just beyond their comfort zone so they can develop the perseverance and grit necessary to propel themselves forward years after they leave OLHMS.  Thank you for sharing your child’s middle school journey with us, and for helping us maximize the opportunity we have during these three years to help your child find the best version of themselves both now and in the future.
